quiet as a mouse

As I sit here, basking in the January sun I can't help but let my mind wander. With my feet tucked under me, I quietly drink my tea and am reminded of  how the time of year draws us to certain moods and ideas. I watch the sun crawl across the room, as a leafless tree casts shadows that dance. Everything is still and all I  want to do is to curl up and hibernate. The wind blows and I notice just how awesome this moment is and how I feel so lucky to be a silent observer. The afternoon sun in January is hopeful and alluring. The colors of dark firewood, bleak skies, dried leaves, and bare patches of grass are both inspiring and depressing. Finding beauty in the desolate January landscape can be rewarding. Take a moment to realize that this is the time to curl up and pause. Enjoy the little things and notice the details. Before we know it everything will be blooming again but until then, I suggest taking a moment and watching the slender shadow of that bare tree.

Where you been??

Phew! Well, I guess the year kind of got away from me!! Between our wedding, work, our honeymoon, massive power outages in Connecticut, my sisters pregnancy, and the birth of my first nephew...yeah, I'd say we have had quite the year! But everything is new....again... and I have a new computer and a new camera! This year is THE YEAR for my creativity! I will be devoting a LARGE part of Tuesday afternoons to my art and will make sure to keep everyone posted! Its a new year and its time to settle in and get creative!! Love, Ms. Kate

so many beads....

First Things First

To kick start this blogging business I have to first share one of my all time favorite things with you and that is my future husband Pat. Not only is he the most hilarious person on earth, he also keeps me grounded and supports me even through my most ridiculous of ideas....this blog perhaps? Being an artist as well (he's a painter and a tattooer) he understands the creative process and is always willing to help me.
   When we decided to get our engagement pics taken we struggled with whether to take conservative old fashion photographs or something that was more unique and perhaps a little bit weird. I looked at so many amazing, (and very fancy) engagement pics online. I perused hundreds of photographs of perfect brides-to-be with pin straight hair and perfect makeup and deep down I just knew that wasn't me. So, we decided to go the weird route. We had our engagement pictures taken last September by my friend Rachel Gardham and  we had a blast! Not only are they beautiful pictures but  I think they are very unique and very "us". I wore very little makeup and it was rainy and humid. We couldn't help the crappy conditions so we shrugged off any expectations and just had fun! These pics are a true representation of who we are and I love to look at them! I hope you they give you a chuckle. Love, Ms. Kate
